Trump noted that he had a “great meeting” with the Ukrainian president and that if he is elected president, “the war between Russia and Ukraine will end quickly.”
“If not, then this war will never end and will move into the phase of World War III. Harris will never be able to end the war, and she hasn’t been able to. Nothing will change, except that death and destruction will only get worse,” the US presidential candidate wrote.
After the meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump said he favoured a “just” peace for Ukraine, but refrained from being specific about what kind of agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine he would consider fair.
Prior to the talks, Trump praised Zelenskyy’s handling of the attempted impeachment by Democrats in Congress and said they have a “great relationship.” However, he immediately said the same about his relationship with Russia’s ruler and reiterated his confidence that he could quickly stop the war.
As reported , President Zelenskyy’s current visit to the United States is accompanied by a loud scandal – Republicans accused him of interfering in the American elections, as he visited a plant in Pennsylvania that produces ammunition, including for Ukraine. At the same time, the US delegation did not include any Republicans, and Pennsylvania is a swing state, so there is a serious struggle for votes here. The US Congress even launched an investigation into the visit.
After that, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson refused to meet with Zelenskyy, citing his heavy workload. It was also reported that Trump himself had ignored Zelenskyy’s proposals for a meeting. Recently, he has somewhat stepped up his almost anti-Ukrainian rhetoric. In particular, Trump has called Zelenskyy “the best salesman in history” because he makes billions of dollars every time he comes to Washington.
