Representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the United States may meet on February 14 at the Munich Security Conference. This was announced by US President Donald Trump at a meeting with journalists at the White House, informs Komersant ukrainskyi
“We have a meeting tomorrow in Munich. Russia will be there with our people. Ukraine is also invited, by the way. I do not know exactly who will represent which country. But officials from Russia, Ukraine and the United States will be there, ” he said.
It should be noted that Russian officials have not appeared at the Munich conference since 2022.
The Office of the President of Ukraine said that negotiations with the Russians are not expected, reports “Suspilne”. Communications adviser of the OP Dmitry Litvin noted that Ukraine adheres to a clear position on such negotiations.
“The Ukrainian position is unchanged. Ukraine should first talk to America. Europe must be a participant in any serious conversation for the sake of a real and lasting peace. And only an agreed common position should be on the table to talk to the Russians. There is no meeting with the Russians at an empty table. There is nothing on the table right now. Conversation with the Russians in Munich is not expected,” – said Litvin.

Trump’s position on Ukraine
During the election race, Donald Trump repeatedly expressed that he would stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours after he took office. That deadline has now expired.
Also during the election, the media spread the so-called “Trump Plan”. It was that the US would stop the war with its influence, taking into account the status quo. To do this, Trump will force Putin and Zelensky to sit down at the negotiating table. If Putin does not agree to the negotiations, the US will give Ukraine all the weapons it needs to win on the battlefield. If Zelensky refuses to negotiate, then the U.S. will stop helping Ukraine altogether.
This plan, in various variations, notably stipulated that russia would keep the territories it temporarily occupied and Ukraine would not join NATO.
True, later Trump sort of “forgot” about this plan a bit. In particular, he voiced scenarios in which he would force Russia to capitulate because of the decline in world oil prices.
Already after Trump was elected President of the United States, one of his advisers Brian Lanza said that Ukraine should forget about Crimea. In Trump’s entourage, however, hastened to repudiate this statement, and said that Lanza could not speak on his behalf.
Now the US special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is talking about 100 days during which he wants to reach some kind of agreement. Of those, 24 days have already passed. During this time, the US presidential administration has established contact with the Kremlin, the US envoy flew to Moscow, and Trump talked to Putin on the phone and seemed to agree on a meeting in Saudi Arabia.
