Today, the Presidential Office held a working meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Health, the Medical Forces Command, and the head of the relevant parliamentary committee, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, on the issues of the military qualification examination for persons with limited fitness. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

They discussed the need to urgently adopt legislative changes, according to which

– re-passing the VLK is not mandatory for people under 25 and for those who are duly recognized as persons with disabilities;

– the deadline is postponed from February 5 to June 5. The corresponding draft law was registered in the Rada today under the number 12457.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, they also discussed the issue of proper organization of processes so that after the new deadlines are set, people can pass the VLC in time.

In addition, according to the official, an agreement was reached that until the adoption of the above law, the TCCs will not impose fines on those who fail to pass the VLC by February 5 and will not put them on the wanted list. The respective directive will be sent as appropriate.

The relevant draft law has already been registered in the Parliament

MP Oleksandr Fediyenko said that the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence has registered a draft law “On Amendments to Clause 2 of Section II “Final and Transitional Provisions” of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Ensuring the Rights of Military and Police Officers to Social Protection”.

The draft law proposes to establish that Ukrainian citizens aged 25 to 60 who have been recognized as partially fit are required to undergo a second medical examination by June 5, 2025, to determine their fitness for military service. Such citizens are obliged to independently apply to the territorial center of recruitment and social support or through the electronic office of a conscript, person liable for military service and reservist in order to receive a referral to the military medical commission for a medical examination.

The MP expressed hope that, as the draft law is agreed upon, the Parliament will adopt it as a basis and as a whole.

As it is known, at the moment, “limitedly fit” persons – persons liable for military service and conscripts – have until February 5 to undergo a second medical examination. Failure to do so will result in a fine.
