According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Erlikay, they were killed after their attack. The official added that the two wounded are in serious condition.

“As a result of the terrorist attack at the TUSAŞ Ankara Kahramankazan site, two terrorists were neutralised. Unfortunately, we have 5 dead and 22 wounded as a result of the attack. Three of the victims have already been discharged from hospital, 19 of them are undergoing treatment,” the Interior Minister said.

Erlikaya also said that the perpetrators were “very likely” members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is banned in Turkey.

“The style of this act shows that the attack was most likely carried out by the PKK. Once we have completed the identification and other evidence, we will share more specific information with you,” the Turkish minister said.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation into the attack.

Witnesses told Reuters that local authorities took the building’s employees to a shelter and no one was allowed to leave for several hours. According to the Western media outlet’s interlocutors, the explosions they heard could have occurred at different exits.

In addition, witnesses later reported that the evacuation of staff from the TUSAŞ campus by buses began after the operation was completed.

The media showed footage of the damaged gate and the shootout in the car park, as well as images of two attackers carrying assault rifles and backpacks as they entered the building.

Ambulances and helicopters later arrived.
