Komersant ukrainskyi ANALYSIS

Despite the challenging conditions caused by the war, Ukraine continues to maintain some of the most affordable mobile and internet tariffs in the world. According to experts, Ukrainian tariffs remain among the lowest, and even in the face of war, operators have managed to maintain competitive prices. Komersant ukrainskyi has compared prices from three of Ukraine’s most famous mobile operators – Kyivstar, Vodafone, and lifecell.

The most favorable tariffs from Vodafone

Mobile operator Vodafone offers one of the most favorable options for subscribers on a prepaid basis – the Turbo tariff for 270 UAH for 4 weeks. This tariff includes:

  • Unlimited calls within the Vodafone network.
  • Unlimited mobile Internet, as well as 5 GB for roaming.
  • 800 minutes for calls to other mobile networks.

This is one of the most popular tariffs among Ukrainians, combining a favorable price and sufficient amounts of Internet and minutes.

Kyivstar tariffs: a variety of options for all needs

Kyivstar also offers several affordable tariffs for its subscribers. The cheapest option is the Love Magnet tariff, which costs 175 UAH for four weeks. It includes:

  • 20 GB of mobile Internet.
  • 1200 minutes for calls outside the network.
  • One “Superpower” to choose from – unlimited calls or unlimited internet.

Another option for people over 60 or with disabilities is the Love comfort tariff for 140 UAH per month, which includes:

  • 6 GB of mobile Internet.
  • Unlimited calls to Kyivstar network.
  • 60 minutes for calls to other mobile operators.
  • 1 Superpower – either 100 minutes or 5 GB of Internet.

There are special conditions for contract subscribers, in particular, when switching to Kyivstar with their own number.

The cheapest tariffs from lifecell

Lifecell offers the Prosto Life tariff for 160 UAH for 4 weeks, which includes:

  • 8 GB of mobile Internet.
  • 300 minutes for calls to all networks.
  • Unlimited calls within lifecell network after using the basic minutes.

This tariff is valid for both prepaid and contract subscribers. If a subscriber transfers a number from another operator, the price of the tariff is reduced to UAH 90. If the number is already identified in the operator’s system (linked to passport data), the tariff will cost UAH 140.

How to choose the most favorable tariff?

When choosing a tariff plan, it is important to focus on your own needs. If you often talk on the phone, you should pay attention to tariffs with unlimited calls. If you use the Internet more, a tariff with large amounts of mobile Internet will be a better choice.

One of the most profitable options is tariffs for subscribers who switch from another operator while keeping their number. Such tariffs usually have discounts, but these conditions are valid only for a limited time, so it is important to consider whether it is worth switching to another operator.

It is also worth remembering that some tariffs have a duration of 4 weeks, not a month, which means an additional payment in the amount of the “13th payment” during the year.

Ukraine is among the leaders in cheap mobile internet

According to the British company Cable.co.uk, in August 2023, Ukraine ranked 16th among the countries in the world in terms of the cost of one gigabyte of mobile Internet, where the price was only $0.27/GB. This confirms that Ukrainians get access to mobile internet at one of the most favorable rates on the planet.

According to Cable.co.uk, Israel offers the cheapest mobile Internet, with an average price of $0.02 per GB. But in the United States, mobile Internet is one of the most expensive. The country ranks 219th in the ranking, as the average cost of the service here is $6 per 1 GB.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe offers the most expensive mobile Internet. In this country, the cost of the service reaches $43.75 per gigabyte.

Thus, mobile operators in Ukraine offer favorable tariffs that remain competitive even amid economic difficulties and military operations. The cheapest offers from Vodafone, Kyivstar, and lifecell meet different needs of subscribers and give you a choice depending on whether you need unlimited calls, a large amount of Internet, or special conditions for privileged categories.
