Information has been actively circulating on the Internet that mobile operators’ prices will allegedly rise from 1 January to 1 December 2025. The head of the Telecommunications Chamber of Ukraine, Tatyana Popova, said that the information being actively spread online is false, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
It was reported that the reason for the increase in mobile tariffs should be the need for operators to invest heavily in backup power supplies to ensure network operation in the event of a power shortage.
Popova said that she had been the subject of manipulation in an article by 24Business, which was later picked up by other publications and telegram channels. She noted that her name and position were used in an unprofessional journalistic piece to which she had nothing to do.
In addition, Popova stressed that no journalist had approached her for comment on the possible price increase by mobile operators from 1 January 2025. The article incorrectly used her theses from open sources, which related to a completely different situation and a different period.
Thus, Ukrainians should not expect such an increase in tariffs of mobile service providers in the near future.
