Bolt is launching Women for Women taxis in Chernihiv, Odesa, Lviv, Uzhhorod, Mukachevo, and Rivne. This was reported by Ain.ua with reference to the company’s press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The first such taxi was launched in late February in Kyiv as a pilot initiative. As the company explained at the time, “the growing number of women in the driving profession in Ukraine requires the creation of conditions in which both passengers and drivers feel confident and protected.”
And after the Women for Women service found a positive response in Kyiv, the company decided to scale the project further.
To use the service, you need to pass a check
When choosing a category, the user will have to upload an official identity document.
The document will be checked against the Bolt account, including name, date of birth, and photo.
To complete the verification, the user will need to take a selfie to confirm that they match the document provided.
After successful verification, the passenger will be able to confirm the order and wait for the car at the designated location.
Bolt is used by more than 200 million customers in more than 50 countries in Europe and Africa (more than 600 cities). More than 4.5 million drivers use the Bolt platform. The company’s products include ride-hailing, scooter and car rental, food and grocery delivery, and corporate mobility services.
Earlier it was also reported that Uklon had also launched a separate class of cars for women traveling with female drivers. Since the launch of the service in March, the “Women’s” order class has been available in Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Lviv.
Women’s taxi services are widespread around the world
In Tokyo, there are not only taxis for women, but also buses and other public transportation. Mexico City, which is considered a criminal metropolis, also has separate women’s subway cars and buses during rush hour. This was reported by Big Kyiv.
In Arab countries, women cannot ride in a taxi accompanied by another man, but religion does not prohibit moving around the city accompanied by a woman.
Lady Driver, a startup in Brazil, has raised nearly $3 million to finance the work of female drivers. The company offers women higher wages than Uber or Lyft. This was done in response to the need for female drivers to feel worthy in the labor market.
