The situation with hepatitis A in Kyiv will be considered by the committee on May 23 – Zub

The issue of the spread of hepatitis A in Kyiv is on the agenda of the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance to be held on May 23. This was reported to [comersant] by MP Valeriy Zub, chairman of the subcommittee on cancer prevention and control.
“We will consider this issue at the committee meeting to be held on May 23. It is on the agenda,” emphasized Zub.
Consideration of this issue is related to the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the capital and the need to take measures at the level of state health policy.
Other key issues on the agenda of the meeting
1. Draft law No. 13205
Envisages strengthening of state supervision over compliance with sanitary legislation in areas of activity that may pose a risk to public health. The initiator is Mykhailo Radutskyi and 21 other MPs.
2. Draft law No. 13135 (second reading)
The aim is to increase patients’ access to medicines by introducing managed access agreements.
3. Draft law No. 13276
It concerns amendments to the law on military duty to improve the training of reserve medical officers.
4. Analysis of balances on the accounts of contracted healthcare providers
The issue of the efficiency of financing medical institutions through the NHSU, transparency of expenditures and improvement of the quality of services.
As a reminder, in May 2024, an outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in Kyiv. According to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Health, the increase in the incidence is associated with violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards in public institutions and possible contamination of water sources.
Amid the situation, local authorities have initiated inspections of educational, catering and infrastructure facilities. Local anti-epidemic measures have been introduced in some districts of the capital, including vaccination of high-risk groups and enhanced water quality monitoring.
