Famous Ukrainian weather forecaster Natalka Didenko has shared her weather forecasts for the coming weeks and dispelled rumours about the early arrival of autumn. In an exclusive commentary to Komersant ukrainskyi, she spoke in detail about the expected temperature changes and explained why we should not rush to conclusions about the start of the autumn season.
“I wouldn’t talk about meteorological autumn yet, because it’s too early. In all respects,”
– didenko said.
As for talk of a cold snap, the forecaster offered a different interpretation:
“I would not call it a cold snap, but a decrease in heat.”
According to her, a significant drop in air temperature is expected only from the beginning of September.
“Looking ahead as far as the weather forecast allows, such a significant drop in air temperature, the most significant, because there will be various fluctuations, is expected to be strictly according to the calendar – from 1 September,”
– the forecaster predicts.
Didenko gave a specific example for Kyiv:
“On 23 and 24 August, the heat will ease in Kyiv, and on Sunday it will increase again, it will be hot again. And it is from 1-2 September that lower air temperatures are expected. First, 28… 29 degrees, then 26-28, 24-26. This is according to preliminary forecasts.”

The forecaster paid special attention to the weather in the south and east of the country.
“The south and east of the country, which is very important for us, will remain in the hot air mass for much longer. Although the heat will ease there on 1-2 September. It will not be, for example, 24-26 degrees, as in Kyiv, but at least 35-36 degrees is not expected there,”
– didenko said.
In conclusion, she reminded us of an interesting meteorological phenomenon – Indian Summer.
“We also have such a concept as Indian summer. There are three types: young, middle and mature. Young summer starts approximately from 28 August to 11 September. Therefore, we should at least wait for the autumn breath after that,”
– didenko added.
Thus, according to Natalka Didenko, Ukrainians should not rush to say goodbye to summer. There are still many warm days ahead, and real autumn will not come soon.
