Forecasters warned of the return of frost

Ukrainian weather forecasters have warned of a return of frost on the night of May 2-3. The first, “yellow” level of danger has been declared in a number of regions.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The forecast is for 0-5°C and frosts on the soil surface on the night of May 2 in the western, northern, and most central regions and on the night of May 3 in the eastern, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, and Dnipro regions.


Natalia Didenko, a meteorologist, said that in general, 2-6°C is expected in Ukraine at night, and 6-10°C in the southern part.

On May 2, the air temperature will be “fresh but comfortable” at 14-18°C, and 15-21°C in the west. It will be the coolest in the northeastern part – 11-14°C. The wind will be north, northwest, moderate, gusty in the eastern regions.

By the end of the week, atmospheric fronts will cause periodic rains in the western and northern regions, and in some places in the central regions (it will be dry all the time in the Dnipropetrovs’k region). In the south and east, weather without precipitation will prevail.

“By the way, frosts are common in May, and tornadoes, which were recently recorded and posted online, also occur in Ukraine, always, but not as often as frosts,” Didenko wrote.
