Hrynkevych’s son detained while trying to organise border crossing

The fifth member of a criminal organisation that supplied the Armed Forces with low-quality clothing worth UAH 1 billion was detained while trying to organise a border crossing. This is the son of a businessman, Roman Hrynkevych, reports citing information from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.

“Today at 7 a.m., based on a court order, Roman Hrynkevych was detained in Odesa, who evaded the pre-trial investigation,”

– said SBI Director Oleksiy Sukhachov at a press briefing.

According to law enforcement officials, the suspect travelled to Odesa around 17 January and has been preparing to cross the state border and leave the country since then. He was trying to arrange an illegal border crossing in order to hide in one of the EU countries. on 19 January, at the request of prosecutors, the court granted permission to detain him. Today, a pre-trial restraint is to be imposed on him.

Ihor Hrynkevych is accused of supplying the Armed Forces with low-quality clothing worth UAH 1.2 billion. The day before, four of the five members of the criminal group were detained and remanded in custody with a total bail of over UAH 2 billion. According to law enforcement, Roman Hrynkevych is the fifth participant in the scheme.
