Povaliy’s son is looking for a “pit bull” who is ready to fight for “Nazi collaborators and accomplices”
13 December 00:24The son of Putinist singer and former MP from the Party of Regions Taisiya Povaliy, musician Denis Povaliy, intends to sue Ukraine over the confiscation of his mother’s personal property, who supports Russian policy. He wrote about this on his Instagram page, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
As you know, the day before, the High Anti-Corruption Court decided to confiscate the Putinist’s BMW, 7 land plots in Kyiv region, a residential building and household. In addition, she was deprived of the rights to 9 songs.
Denis Povaliy expressed outrage at the course of the trial and the difficulties in preparing the defense. The singer’s son said that the lawyer he had been working with for a long time had withdrawn from the case because he was not ready to risk his reputation. Nevertheless, Povaliy is determined to defend his rights to the house where he was registered and other family property.
“The lawyer who helped me draft it out of friendship was not ready to risk his reputation and represent the interests of a sanctioned person, although, according to him, ‘he is not the shy type. He estimated the chances of winning at 3%,” the singer’s son wrote.
In addition, according to the singer’s son, the preparation of the appeal has already cost him more than a thousand euros. In search of funds, he is even ready to sell his rare items, including a grand piano and a billiard table.
“Everything is on the line, so I am ready to sell my rare piano and pool table to pay for the services of a pit bull who is ready to fight the system for ‘Nazi collaborators and accomplices’. Friends, is there anyone who has nothing to lose and is ready to stand up for Nina Giryavets and her grandson, Dmytro Povaliy, whose honestly earned wealth the state has decided to take away?” Povaliy added.
He also questioned the objectivity of the court, in particular the fact that his case is being considered by the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC). According to him, during his communication with the court representatives, he did not see any evidence of corruption on the part of his family.
“For some reason, we are being tried by the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine itself, and in the course of communication with its representatives, I have not seen a single piece of evidence of corruption committed by my family (in particular, my mother, against whom this demonstrative political reprisal is being organized). I would be grateful for any possible assistance,” he complained.
The sanctions were imposed pursuant to a lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine on Sanctions.
As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine notified the singer in absentia of suspicion of collaboration, public calls for war and justification of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Investigators found that Povaliy had moved to Russia, where she obtained Russian citizenship and publicly supported the Kremlin. During an interview with a Moscow-based online publication, she praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and called for the seizure of the entire territory of Ukraine.
She also tried to discredit Ukrainian defenders who took part in the battles for Kyiv.
In September 2023, at the invitation of the terrorist Pasichnyk, Povaliy performed at a concert in the temporarily occupied Luhansk. During her performance, she expressed support for the Russian invaders and glorified their participation in the war against Ukraine.
An SBU-initiated examination confirmed the facts of Taisiya Povaliy’s subversive activities in favor of the aggressor country.
Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators served Taisiya Povaliy a notice of suspicion in absentia under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- ч. 6 of Art. 111-1 (collaboration),
- article 436 (public calls for aggressive war),
- ч. 1 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine as lawful).
Since she is on the territory of Russia, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring her to justice for her crimes.
If detained, Taisiya Povaliy faces up to 12 years in prison.
It should be noted that Denis Povaliy himself moved to Spain after the start of the full-scale invasion, where he was looking for work as a musician. The musician, who at the beginning of the war supported Ukraine and fenced himself off from his Putinist mother, “changed his shoes”. Povaliy said that the Russian invasion was “artificially provoked,” that it was “the division of Ukrainians on the basis of language into friends and foes,” and that it happened “because of Maidan” and “because of the tearing down of the St. George’s ribbon.
Sanctions against Povaliy
It should be noted that Ukraine proposed to revoke Povaliy’s title of “People’s Artist” back in 2018. Despite the fact that Russia seized Crimea and invaded Donbas, after 2014 she continued to travel to Russia and thanked the Russians for their reception. Moreover, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Povaliy traveled there to perform a concert on the occasion of Russia’s Day.
In October 2022, artists of Ukrainian descent who live and perform in Russia – Ani Lorak, Taisiya Povaliy, and Anna Sedokova – were sanctioned by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The sanctions include blocking assets, restricting trade operations, preventing the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, suspending the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations, revoking or suspending licenses and other permits, prohibiting participation in privatization, leasing state property, and more.
