The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal has banned the activities of the Slavic Party in Ukraine, having satisfied the claims of the Ministry of Justice. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice, Komersant UkrainianKomersant Ukrainian reports

It should be noted that the Slavic Party is a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine, formerly known (until 1998) as the Civic Congress of Ukraine.

It is noted that the property, funds and other assets of the political party, its regional, city, district organisations, primary cells and other structural units were transferred to the state.

“By the decision of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal of 22 October 2024 in case No. P/857/10/24, the claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine against the political party Slavic Party, a third party that does not make independent claims regarding the subject matter of the dispute, on the side of the plaintiff – the Security Service of Ukraine, to ban the activities of the political party, was satisfied,” the statement said.

On 14 May 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law passed by the Verkhovna Rada that expands the list of grounds for banning political parties through the courts.

The relevant grounds are justification, recognition of the legitimacy or denial of armed aggression against Ukraine. It is envisaged that if a court bans a political force, its property, funds and other assets become the property of the state.
