On May 20, the Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Pechersk District Court, which declared unreliable the information disseminated by Serhiy Kryvonos about the activities of the State Audit Service of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing the State Audit Service.
The court found that Kryvonos’s accusations were groundless, contained distortions of facts and were aimed at discrediting the State Audit Service and its head, Alla Basalaeva.
The State Audit Service emphasized that they work exclusively within the law, protect the state’s financial interests, and that their work has revealed numerous violations, including in defense procurement.
The Service stated its commitment to the principles of transparency, openness and readiness for a dialogue with the public.
What is known about the conflict?
General Serhiy Kryvonos publicly accused the State Audit Service of Ukraine (SAU) and its head, Alla Basalayeva, of disclosing sensitive information that he believed could have damaged the country’s defense capabilities. In particular, he stated that the official website of the State Audit Service had published the results of an audit and contracts of the Luch Defense Design Bureau, which contained details that should not have been made public. Mr. Kryvonos believed that such actions discredited Ukraine in the eyes of its international partners and could be used by the enemy.
In response to these accusations, the State Audit Service filed a lawsuit to protect its business reputation.
