The court imposed a preventive measure in absentia on the suspect in the attacks, MP Artem Dmytruk, in the form of arrest without bail. Prior to that, he was put on the international wanted list. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
An investigating judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the Prosecutor General’s motion and imposed a preventive measure of detention without bail on the Ukrainian MP.
The Prosecutor General’s Office explained that the investigating judge’s ruling and the relevant resolution to put Dmytruk on the wanted list would be forwarded to the Department of International Police Cooperation of the National Police of Ukraine, which would organise the entry of information on the international wanted list into the Interpol General Secretariat’s records and the initiation of the suspect’s detention outside Ukraine for further extradition.
As reported, on 25 August, the Prosecutor General served a notice of suspicion to a sitting MP who had participated in attacks on citizens.
The MP is suspected of
- intentional infliction of light bodily harm to a law enforcement officer by a group of persons in connection with the performance of his/her official duties (Article 28(1), Article 345(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
- theft of firearms by a group of persons (Article 15(2), Article 28(1), Article 262(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);

In addition, the SBI summoned Dmytruk for questioning on 29 and 30 August.
Earlier, the media reported that Dmytruk had illegally travelled abroad on 24 August. According to media reports, the MP was seen at the police station in the Moldovan city of Stefan Voda.
There, in the presence of an investigator, Dmytruk wrote a statement about illegal border crossing, which allows him to obtain refugee status.
The State Bureau of Investigation reported that it had opened a criminal investigation into the illegal border crossing by the current MP.
An investigative team of the SBI is currently working in Odesa, including employees of the Bureau’s central office.
They are investigating how Dmytruk crossed the border and who helped him. Searches have already been conducted on civilians and employees of the State Border Guard Service who allegedly assisted the MP in illegally crossing the border.
