The Ivano-Frankivsk City Court found a local resident guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is stated in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
As noted in the criminal case file, on February 8, 2023, a full-time student of the Ivano-Frankivsk Professional Construction Lyceum created an information group “Summonses Sniatyn Kosiv district” in the Viber messenger.
He “configured it in such a way that users could send information in the form of text, photo, audio and video messages indicating the place, time and address where the military of the relevant units of the Armed Forces and other armed formations were conducting mobilization activities.”
In this way, as stated in the case file, “the target audience of citizens of Ukraine who evade conscription and/or mobilization and military registration was informed about the places of performance of official duties by employees of territorial centers of recruitment and social support in Kolomyia and Kosiv districts, which objectively impeded the legitimate activities of the relevant units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”.
It is reported that, for example, in the period from 01.02.2024 to 14.02.2024, 15 information messages were posted in the Viber group “Summonses Sniatyn Kosiv district” in order to obstruct the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces and other paramilitary formations, indicating the specific places where the employees carried out the relevant official activities.
The court found the student guilty of committing a criminal offense and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. However, since the defendant pleaded guilty and signed an agreement with the prosecutor, he was released from serving a prison sentence and placed on probation for 2 years.
