The eldest daughter of the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Valeriya Zaluzhna, has revealed an interesting detail from her father’s life that had been hidden for many years. Ariana Zaluzhna herself told about it in her book “Iron General. Lessons of Humanity,” written by the general’s former communications officer Lyudmyla Dolgonovska, Komersant ukrainskyi reports, citing Ukrayinska Pravda.
Ariana is the eldest daughter of Valeriy and Olena Zaluzhnykh. The girl was born in her mother’s first marriage, but grew up and was brought up in a family with Valeriy. Valeriy also has another daughter, Khrystyna.
The general’s daughter disclosed that he had not bought civilian clothes for many years. And when his wife asked him to buy a suit or jeans, he said he had everything.
“There was a time when my mother was constantly offering him: “We need to buy you a suit, jeans”. And he said: “I don’t need anything”. You can’t get him out of his military uniform. My mother would say: “You will sleep in your uniform,” Ariana said.
It should be noted that Valeriy Zaluzhny has been married for over 20 years. His wife Olena used to work as a financier in a bank. The couple have two daughters. Valeriy said that the eldest daughter is a military officer and serves in the Kyiv garrison, while the younger Khrystyna is studying in Odesa and plans to become a doctor.
On 11 July, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi officially took up his duties as Ambassador to the UK.
Earlier, Kommersant Ukrainian reported that Zaluzhnyi could not travel to London because he did not have a British visa. It is still not known what exactly prevented him from obtaining a visa, as sources claimed that there were no reasonable grounds for delaying the visa.
As you know, on 8 February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was replaced by Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The media reported that Zaluzhnyi had undergone a military qualification examination in the winter, where he was declared unfit for military service, and in February he wrote a letter of resignation from military service.
Later, it became known that Zaluzhnyi could take up the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom. on 7 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the “launch of the appointment procedure” for the ambassador, and recently it became known that Zaluzhnyi had received an agriman from the UK.
