Old revolvers to help Ukrainian army
31 January 15:14
Open auctions for 11 demilitarized Nagan revolvers start today and will last until February 24 inclusive. This is reported on the Government portal, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.
The sale, organized by Ukrposhta and the Ministry of Strategic Industries, will take place at electronic auctions in the Prozorro.Sale system. All 11 revolvers will be sold in separate lots, in three rounds. The minimum period of exposure in the system is seven calendar days, and the duration of the auction itself will depend on the number of registered participants.
Where did the “weapons” for auctions come from?
Before Ukraine gained independence, the Ministry of Communications of the Ukrainian SSR functioned in Ukraine, which ensured the delivery of pensions and other cash payments. Employees had the right to carry and use service firearms in the performance of their duties for their own safety. Today, the Nagans have been demilitarized and designated as prototypes of mass and size, and have the appropriate expert opinions on their unsuitability for shooting from Ukroboronprom.
By the way, the first lot dates back to 1915, and the rest of the revolvers date back to 1906-1914. These weapons were manufactured at the Imperial Tula Armory.

Where did the idea for the auction come from?
The initiative to hold such a sale came from Ukrposhta. Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin appreciated the idea.
“The team of the Ministry of Strategic Industries is working every day to ensure that more new weapons are produced in Ukraine, and I am glad that together with Ukrposhta we have found a way to use the old ones for the benefit of the Ukrainian army,” emphasized Smetanin.
Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smelyansky reminded that “Ukrposhta is known for its stamps and actions being full of symbolism during a full-scale invasion.”
“We are confident that this charity auction, at which we sell weapons produced in the Russian empire to raise funds to overcome this empire, will not only find its connoisseurs, but will also help raise funds for the Armed Forces and provide moral support to our citizens,” said Smelyansky.

What is known about the lot for the first auction
This is a 7.62 mm Nagan revolver. The serial number is 11797. Manufacturer – Tula Imperial Armory, 1915.
The starting price is 5000 UAH. The winner will be announced on February 7, 2025.
Ukrposhta also has unique stamps
A week ago, Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smelyansky, for example, announced the launch of a limited edition of the Third Assault stamp under the Own Brand project. This time, the issue is a bit unusual, the official said at the time.

“First of all, we are releasing a sheet with 9 stamps, the print run of which is limited: only 1300 copies. Each sheet will be numbered. No fakes will be allowed 🙂 In addition to the stamps that we are sending directly to the team, the rest will be available primarily to the holders of the Exclusive subscription. They have already received a link to pay,” explained Igor Smelyansky.
Those stamps that were not purchased – which the Ukrposhta CEO had great doubts about – were supposed to go on sale on January 24.
