The semifinalists of the 2025 IIHF World Championship have been announced

After the final two games of the World Ice Hockey Championship, all participants in the tournament’s semifinals have been determined. The national teams of the United States, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden have reached the 1/2 finals. This was reported by the International Ice Hockey Federation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Sweden reached the semifinals after beating the Czech Republic 5-2 (3:0, 1:1, 1:1).
Another semifinalist was the Danish national team, which won a strong-willed victory over Canada – 2:1 (0:0, 0:0, 2:1).
The main surprise of the tournament occurred in the quarterfinal match between Canada and Denmark. Everything seemed to be going according to the classic scenario: the favorite controls the game, scores at a crucial moment, and calmly makes a passage on. But not this time. In the last minutes of the match, the Danes unexpectedly seized the initiative. First, Nikolaj Ehlers equalized, taking advantage of a mistake in the Canadian defense. A few minutes later, Nick Olesen put Denmark ahead and gave his country a historic moment.
This is the first time that the Danish national team has reached the semifinals of a major international hockey tournament. The team, which was considered an outsider before the start of the championship, continues to surprise and destroy forecasts.
For Canada, however, this defeat was a painful blow. They lost their chance to compete for gold and are leaving the tournament at a stage they usually overcome with confidence.
In the semifinals on May 24, the United States – Sweden and Denmark – Switzerland will meet.
The final of the 2025 World Cup will take place on May 25 in Stockholm.
