It became known how many hours Kyiv residents will have to be without electricity (video)
12 December 17:34Kyiv will be without electricity for 14 and 16 hours if the weather conditions are unfavorable this winter and the thermometer quickly drops. This forecast was made by the head of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities, Oleh Popenko, reports Komersant ukrainskyi.
When asked by the host of the live broadcast about the situation with electricity that may develop in Kyiv in the near future, the expert replied that it all depends on the weather conditions and the situation in Ukraine.
“You have to understand that Trypillia CHP is destroyed. And CHPP-6 and CHPP-5 in Kyiv are constantly under fire. In fact, we don’t have much generation left to power Kyiv: Rivne NPP, where a high-voltage network to Kyiv was laid. But, in principle, as practice shows, one or two “Shahids” that hit the transmission line – both Rivne and Ternopil regions completely “fall out”. So there are many components. But if there are frosts, Kyiv will be without electricity for 14 and 16 hours,” Popenko said.
It should be noted that in early December, in a commentary for the BBC, Oleh Popenko also predicted a “heating collapse” in Kyiv, similar to the situation that occurred in Kryvyi Rih. About 130,000 residents there were left without heating in November. There was no heat in dozens of schools, hospitals and kindergartens.
The chairman of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities believes that this situation could happen again in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Sumy, Kherson, Kropyvnytskyi or Svitlovodsk.
“When pipes have not been replaced for decades, this is what happens. There comes a time when they break in many places at the same time. There have been problems with heating in Kryvyi Rih before. But this year they decided to do nothing. They broke the pipes in the summer and did nothing. “Naftogaz did not allocate money, and the local authorities withdrew themselves,” Popenko said at the time.
