Ukraine should consider lowering the age of conscription for its soldiers to 18 years. This is the condition set by the United States for official Kyiv, Reuters writes, citing its sources in the US government, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The official, who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity, said that Ukraine is not mobilizing and training enough new soldiers to participate in the war with Russia.

“The Russians are actually making progress, steady progress in the east, and they are starting to push back the Ukrainian (troops – ed.) in Kursk. Mobilization and increase in the number of personnel can significantly affect the situation on the battlefield. We need manpower now,” the US official said.

At the same time, the media source points out that, according to the Ukrainian side, the Armed Forces need an additional 160,000 troops, but the US administration believes that more people are likely to be needed.

The U.S. side also recommends toughening the measures against soldiers who desert or join the NWF. According to official Washington, this would optimize the situation on the battlefield.
