The United States will support President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy if he decides to negotiate with Russia. This was stated by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, reports Komersant ukrainskyi.

He gave this answer to a journalist’s question about whether the United States is ready to facilitate negotiations to end the war in Ukraine in the last months of the current administration if both sides express their readiness for dialogue.

“If President Zelensky decides that he wants to start negotiations, of course, we will support it. This is our long-standing approach: it’s up to Zelenskyy to decide to start negotiations, and it’s not something that we or any other country should push him to do,”

– Miller emphasized.

He added that the United States has not yet seen any signs of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s willingness to make concessions.

“The only negotiations that Putin would probably accept are those where he gets everything he wants and Ukraine gets nothing. But this is not the format that would interest Zelenskyy, and it shouldn’t be so,”

– the spokesman summarized.

As reported by , the Pentagon previously made a statement on assistance to Ukraine before and after Trump’s inauguration.

We also wrote that the Russian “peace treaty” in the spring of 2022 was an act of surrender by Ukraine.
