Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in ensuring the sustainability of Ukraine’s energy system at NATO headquarters in Brussels. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The memorandum provides for the possibility of providing American assistance totaling up to $825 million.

As explained by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the document creates a legal framework for improving the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system, including restoring its critical infrastructure, introducing distributed generation, reforming the energy sector, and facilitating the post-war transition to a low-carbon, competitive, and European-integrated economy.

But the best way to strengthen energy resilience is a new weapon

Speaking to journalists at NATO Headquarters, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga called on Allies to urgently provide additional air defense systems to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience during the winter.

“Ukraine urgently needs to receive at least 20 additional air defense systems such as HAWK, NASAMS or IRIS-T,” the Ukrainian minister emphasized.

According to him, this will help avoid blackouts.
