An indictment has been sent to court against a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation from the banned political party OPFL and his former assistant. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The MP’s name is not specified, but the case file suggests that it is Nestor Shufrych.
Both are accused of financing actions committed with the aim of violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order, seizure of state power, change of the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine (part 3 of article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In addition, the MP is also charged with high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The MP actively cooperated with the known traitor Sivkovych in conducting subversive activities to the detriment of the state and information security of Ukraine. In addition to publications and comments in the media, he regularly submitted pre-prepared parliamentary inquiries and appeals to government and law enforcement agencies.
They were aimed at potentially complicating international relations with other countries, discrediting the top military and political leadership of our country, creating conditions for interference in Ukraine’s internal affairs and aggravating the socio-political situation in the country. An important goal of the customers was to shape the public opinion of Ukrainians in favour of the Russian Federation.
Also in the summer of 2013, the defendant purchased real estate in the resort village of Simeiz, Crimea, from persons affiliated with Viktor Medvedchuk. To conceal this fact, he registered the property in the name of a company controlled by him and his proxy.
After the illegal annexation of the peninsula, he entered into an agreement with the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Okhrana” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to ensure the security of his property. The MP was well aware that such a decision would lead to financing the occupation structures of the aggressor country, but he gave the order to conclude the contract.
Subsequently, almost 650,000 Russian rubles were transferred to the accounts of the Russian paramilitary formation for the services rendered.
The MP may face 15 years in prison.
The defendants are in custody.
