Prometheus co-founder became a parliamentarian: who he replaced in the Rada

The Central Electoral Commission has recognized the co-founder of the Prometheus online education platform, Ivan Primachenko, as an elected MP of Ukraine from the Golos political party. This is reported on the website of the Central Election Commission, informs Komersant ukrainskyiKomersant Ukrainian

Primachenko replaced in the Verkhovna Rada people’s Deputy Oleg Makarov, who died on October 29.

“In the Central election Commission from the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received a document certifying the early termination of the powers of the people’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleg Makarov”, – stated in the message of the CEC.

After his death at the age of 59, the CEC considered the next in line candidate on the party’s list.

“The CEC considered the above document and recognized Ivan Primachenko, the next in line candidate included in the electoral list of the political party “Golos” at number 24, elected people’s Deputy of Ukraine in the above elections in the national multi-mandate constituency,” – said the CEC.

What is known about Ivan Primachenko

Ivan Primachenko was born in 1990 in Donetsk and today he is 34 years old. He is a graduate of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, specializing in history.

He was a member of the supervisory board of the CEDOS think tank and an expert of the group “Education and Science Reform” of the Reanimation Package of Reforms. Head of the first project of mass online courses in Ukraine “University Online”.

In 2014, he co-founded Prometheus, a public platform of online courses. He is also the founder of the student portal “Catch the Moment!”, which unites the best universities in Ukraine.

In 2018 – 2019, he studied at Stanford University in the United States under The Ukrainian Emerging Leaders Program.

Makarov was elected in the extraordinary election of people’s deputies of Ukraine on July 21, 2019 in the state-wide multi-mandate constituency from the political party “Golos”.
