The weather in Ukraine on 22 August is expected to be extremely hot. This was reported byweather forecaster Natalia Didenko, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“Today, 22 August, it will be very hot in the east, south and most central regions of Ukraine, with temperatures reaching 33…38 degrees.
In the western regions, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, it will be a bit fresher – the thermometer will drop to 25…29 degrees, in the west, in some places, to 23…25 degrees.
In Sumy and Chernihiv regions, the temperature is expected to reach 30…34 degrees.
In general, dry weather will prevail in Ukraine, except for local short-term thunderstorms in the south and west, where localised thunderstorms are possible today.
“Summer is not going anywhere yet,” the forecaster said.
The heat is also expected to ease in Kyiv on 22, 23 and 24 August, the Independence Day of Ukraine. The temperature will drop to 25…29 degrees, although in some places it may still reach 30 degrees.
However, the heat will return to the capital on Sunday and Monday. It is forecast to reach 35 degrees and possibly higher.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, there will be short-term rains and thunderstorms in the southern part, western regions, and in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Dnipro regions in the afternoon. However, the rest of the country will be free of precipitation.
According to weather forecasters, the wind will move in a north-westerly direction, and on the Left Bank in a southeasterly direction. The wind speed is expected to reach 5-10 metres per second.
The temperature at night will be 16 – 21 degrees, in the south of the country up to 24 degrees.
During the day, in the western and Zhytomyr regions, it will be 21 – 26 degrees (15 – 20 degrees in the Carpathians).
In the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions, the temperature is 28-33 degrees, while in the rest of the country it is 35-37 degrees.
