The head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, said that this year, for the first time, Ukraine managed to get through the winter using only domestic gas. Chernyshov wrote about this on Facebook, Kommersant Ukrainian reports 
“The first day of spring. This means that we have gone through the winter entirely on Ukrainian gas! A historic event!”
– he said.
Chernyshov added that a few years ago it was “hard to believe”, but Ukrainian gas companies have done it and plan to continue to support the trend of Ukraine’s energy independence.
In early December 2023, Naftogaz announced that it planned to run this winter entirely on Ukrainian gas. The company noted that Ukraine is increasing the volume of gas produced domestically, and these figures are growing. In 2023, Naftogaz launched a record number of new wells, and the company promised to continue this trend in 2024.
