6 February 2024 17:48

On 6 February, a draft resolution to dismiss Mariana Bezuhla from her post as deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. However, Bezuhla was never dismissed, according to citing MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

There were not enough votes to pass the decision – it was supported by 190 MPs.

“After a month of shame and blocking…. The Verkhovna Rada again failed to consider resolution #10391 on the dismissal of Bezuhla from the post of Deputy Chairman of the Defence Committee….,”

– zheleznyak clarified.

Today, Mariana Bezuhla appealed to the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada to read out an official notice of her resignation. In a message on Telegram, she called for her to be “let go” from the Servant of the People faction.

“I appealed to Arakhamia and the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to read out my resignation from the Servant of the People faction, not to ‘lose’ it anywhere. Let me go!”

– bezuhla stressed.

It should be noted that Bezuhla wrote her resignation from the faction on 11 January, stating that she did not want to “have any obligations with the faction’s MPs who stab me in the back”.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada, in order for a decision to withdraw or expel an MP from a faction to take effect, it must be announced by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada at a meeting.

Bezuhla’s withdrawal from the faction will not result in her resignation from the parliamentary mandate, as she was not elected on the list of the Servant of the People party. She will remain a majority member of the Obolon district of Kyiv.

The Bezuhla scandal

The situation with Bezuhla’s resignation arose after a resolution was introduced to recall her from the post of deputy head of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence.

Bezuhla is known for her criticism of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Back in November, she stated that Ukraine’s military leadership “must go” because the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, allegedly “failed to provide a plan for 2024”. Amid rumours of the Commander-in-Chief’s dismissal, the MP resorted to accusations of alcohol abuse and blackmail.

on 5 January, the Verkhovna Rada’s National Security Committee, chaired by her colleague from the Servant of the People faction, Zavitnevych, decided to recall Bezuhla from her position as deputy chair of the Committee .

Bezuhla stated that she did not need a weak faction and party in a time of war. on 11 January, the MP submitted a letter of resignation from the Servant of the People party and faction. The Verkhovna Rada officially adopted this statement on 12 January. At the same time, Bezuhla noted that she would continue to support the president’s initiatives, but did not want to have any joint obligations with the faction’s MPs, “who are stabbing her in the back.”
