Due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, all regions are losing human power in one way or another, but Kherson Region has suffered the most in this regard, with the number of its residents decreasing by 83.9 percent. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to data from the Center for Economic Strategy.

The second place in the anti-rating is Zaporizhzhya region, the population of which decreased by 63 percent. The third place was taken by Mykolaiv region, where the population decreased by almost 42 percent.

At the same time, there are regions where the population has increased. But this is the result of migrations of Ukrainians from the occupied or frontline territories to neighboring regions. Thus, the population increased in such regions:

  • Cherkasy region – 0.2%
  • Kirovograd region – 0.7%
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 2%
  • Poltava region – 21%

But the highest rate of population increase was recorded in Kyiv region. It amounted to 48.1 percent.

The percentage of population also decreased in the western regions of Ukraine. The reason is external migration of the population. The leaders here were Zakarpattya (minus 26.8 percent) and Ternopil (minus 26.2 percent) regions.
