Snowfall and cold snap: weather forecast for February 15

Ukraine will be hit by another cyclone that will bring snowfall, ice and a drop in temperature. In most regions, weather forecasters predict deteriorating weather conditions, which may affect the road situation. A yellow level of danger has been declared. What the weather will be like on February 15 and what to expect in the coming days – read the forecast from the Ukrainian Weather Center, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

Snow, ice and gale force winds

According to the forecast, it will be cloudy in Ukraine on February 15. Moderate snow is expected in the southern, eastern, central and most northern regions, with rain possible in the south. In other regions, snow is expected to be light. Ice will form on the roads of the country.

Northwest wind, speed – 7-12 m/s.

Air temperature:

  • In the western, northern and Vinnytsia regions: -3° to -8°
  • In other regions: -4° to 1°
  • In the Carpathians at night: -8° to -13°
  • During the day in the Crimea and Azov region it will warm up to 2… 7°.

Warning of dangerous weather events

The Meteorological Center warns of snow cover of 3-10 cm in most regions of Ukraine.

Ice is expected on the roads, which may hamper traffic. In this regard, a yellow hazard level (level I) has been declared .

Weather in Kyiv and the region

  • Cloudy weather is expected, with moderate snow at night and light snow during the day.
  • There will be ice on the roads.
  • Northwest wind, 7-12 m/s.
  • Temperature in the Kyiv region: -3°…-8°
  • In Kyiv: -4°…-6°

In the evening of February 14 and throughout February 15, snow cover of 3-5 cm is expected in the capital. The yellow level of danger has been declared .

Warning of avalanche hazard

on February 15-16, due to snowstorms and snowfalls, a significant avalanche hazard (level 3) is expected in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

How will the weather change after February 15?

On February 15-17, the weather pattern will change. An atmospheric front will pass through Ukraine from northwest to southeast, bringing snowfall and light precipitation in the western regions. In the south, sleet and rain are possible.

Ice cover will remain on the country’s roads. Atmospheric pressure will fluctuate: on Saturday it will decrease, but will quickly begin to rise, which will lead to a decrease in precipitation.

On Saturday, a slight warming is forecast, but on Sunday and Monday, frosts will strike again.
