The NABU and the SAPO served a notice of suspicion of making false statements in the 2020 electronic declaration to a current member of the Ukrainian parliament. In 2020, he declared cryptocurrency with a market value of over UAH 24 million. This was reported by the with reference to the NABU press service.
The NABU did not name the MP, but the media found out that it was Oleksandr Marikovskyi, a member of the Servant of the People party.
In addition, this information was confirmed by Oleksiy Honcharenko, a member of the European Solidarity party.
“Oleksandr Marikovskyi, a member of the Servant of the People party, was suspected by the NABU and the SAPO of making false statements in his 2020 e-declaration,”
– he wrote on social media.
According to the NABU, in his 2020 declaration, Marikovskyi indicated that he had been the owner of cryptocurrency assets since 2019. However, an investigation conducted with the help of American colleagues revealed that this cryptocurrency wallet belonged to citizens of another country and had nothing to do with Marikovsky.
“The NABU and the SAPO found out that the cryptocurrency wallet specified by the MP had never actually belonged to him, and the transactions for the purchase of the cryptocurrency specified in the annual declaration were carried out by citizens of another state who had nothing to do with the declarant,”
– the NABU said.
According to the expert assessment, the value of the misdeclared assets amounted to UAH 24.6 million.
In his turn, MP Oleksandr Marikovskyi expressed his surprise at the charges.
“In 2020, significant errors were made in the declaration. I underwent a full audit, I believed and still believe that I acted strictly within the law. I responded quickly and honestly to all clarifications, went to interrogations, and so on. I was physically searched, nothing was found, except for 2 phones, an AKM, a grenade and a crypto wallet. That’s what was seized. The information about the suspicion came as a complete shock to me. I do not admit guilt, I will be able to defend my honour and dignity in court,”
– wrote the MP.
