The Swedish government has approved an additional 44 million (500 million Swedish kronor) to support Ukraine’s energy supply and heating. This is stated on the website of the Swedish government, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
It is noted that the funds will be used to pay for electricity for 185,000 Ukrainians.
This assistance will finance the installation of two gas turbines for electricity generation, which will be protected to minimise the effects of Russian attacks. It is also planned that this project will start operating in 2025.
“Russia is increasingly targeting critical energy infrastructure with its attacks. This new support will go towards generating electricity for around 185,000 people and will help support Ukraine’s society, economy and businesses. This is crucial for Ukraine’s resilience,” said Johan Forssell, Minister for International Development, Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
