Stabbed in the neck: a Russian killed Ukrainian soldiers in Germany

23 October 21:30

the 57-year-old Russian is accused of killing two Ukrainian soldiers who were treated in a hospital in Murnau (Upper Bavaria, Germany) in April 2024. This was reported by Komersant UkrainianKomersant Ukrainian with reference to DER SPIEGEL.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has already charged the Russian with the murder of Ukrainians. One of the perpetrator’s victims was 23 years old, the other man was 36. Both Ukrainians had been operated on at the Murnau Trauma Clinic for injuries sustained in the war.

The crime was preceded by a dispute between the men, who were likely to have known each other in passing. Law enforcement officials assume that they were discussing the situation in Ukraine.

The accused himself stated that the dispute “hurt his national pride”. He also felt “confirmation of his hostility towards Ukrainian soldiers”. In the midst of the argument, the Russian took a knife and stabbed first one and then the other soldier in the neck.

The prosecution suggests that the defendant had planned the murder in advance. First, he got close to his victims and then got them drunk. And, having waited until both men were in a helpless state, he killed them.

The Russian is currently in custody in Munich’s Stadelheim prison. He has been living in Germany since the 1990s and has repeatedly come to the attention of the police.
