German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has frankly admitted that Germany does not provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles because they can reach Moscow from Ukraine. He said this during a public dialogue in Dresden, Kommersant Ukrainsky reports citing tagesschau.
He also believes that this would be a misuse of the missile.
“[Taurus], if misused, could reach a specific target somewhere in Moscow,” Scholz said,

The chancellor added that he is generally annoyed by criticism of arms supplies to Ukraine, as Germany has contributed the most to this among all EU countries. And this year, Germany has budgeted seven billion euros to supply weapons to Ukraine. And if the US Congress does not allocate new funds, Germany will be the main supplier of weapons to Ukraine.
The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron said that he did not rule out the possibility of sending ground troops to Ukraine. These words caused considerable excitement among Western leaders, who were quick to disavow them.
Germany also remains among those countries that oppose the confiscation of frozen Russian assets.
