The Cabinet of Ministers is to be reduced to 17 ministries. This was was announced prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a press conference on 10 September, according to [Kommersant].
“There were 22 members of the Cabinet before the personnel changes, now there are 20 members of the Cabinet. This reduction has taken place, although not to 17, as we announced and predicted. This is still ahead. This optimisation will take place,” the Prime Minister said.
He added that the optimisation will not be drastic, because “radical changes can lead to unpredictable results, so we are very careful in shaping our personnel policy”.
Denys Shmyhal also spoke about the personnel reshuffle that took place in the Cabinet of Ministers a little earlier.
“I want to say right away that the decision was made by the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party, and I, as Prime Minister, submitted these candidates at the request of the parliamentary faction. Of course, we had more than one conversation with each of the candidates, and we developed a strategy for how we would move forward. This is the answer to the question whether I influenced the personnel policy,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also stressed that he had great respect and gratitude for all the wartime ministers for doing their job responsibly and efficiently. The Head of Government said that the newly appointed members of the Cabinet of Ministers are currently working with them to develop their priorities for the traditional 100 days and for the first year of work.
