Hungarian President Viktor Orban wants to have “talks” with the Swedish prime minister about Sweden’s accession to NATO. He wrote about this in the social network X, reports
“Today I have sent an invitation to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to visit Hungary for talks on Sweden’s accession to NATO,”
– said the Hungarian President.
Sweden and Finland, which had previously maintained a neutral status, have submitted applications to join NATO in 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Finland has already completed all the necessary procedures and approval by NATO member governments and has become a member of the Alliance. Sweden has also received NATO’s consent to join, but is awaiting the approval of two states, Turkey and Hungary.
