SBU detains “political expert” from Medvedchuk’s media pool: what is known

The Security Service of Ukraine detained 10 more enemy agitators, including a political expert from the media pool of former MP Viktor Medvedchuk’s OPFL. This was reported by the SBU press service, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

Thus, the so-called political expert, who was a frequent guest on Viktor Medvedchuk’s TV channels and regularly promoted the Kremlin’s narratives, was detained in Kyiv region.

It is noted that the attacker was a member of the FSB agent network, coordinated by the editor-in-chief of the Politnavigator website, Serhiy Stepanov. At the beginning of the full-scale war, the SBU exposed this enemy cell. Two members of the Russian agents were detained, and its resident, Stepanov, who is hiding in Crimea, was served with a notice of suspicion in absentia.

After February 24, 2022, their accomplice from Kyiv region “went into hiding” and tried to hide from justice, using different places of residence in Ukraine.

The SBU does not name the defendant, but according to the UP, it is Serhiy Belashko, who was detained on October 31.

Under the procedural control of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, he was notified of suspicion of committing treason, inciting religious hatred, and insulting the feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs.

During the searches at the suspect’s residence in Kyiv, the police found drafts of articles written by order of Russian curators.

In total, as a result of complex measures, 10 enemy agitators were detained in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Vinnytsia regions, who worked to disrupt mobilization and justify Putin’s armed aggression, the SBU said.
