SBU uncovers five new schemes of mobilization evasion

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Police, has eliminated five mobilization evasion schemes in the central and western regions of the country. This is stated on the SBU website, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
As a result of a joint operation by the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigation and prosecutors in six regions, 10 organizers were detained who ensured the escape of men of military age abroad or issued them with forged documents for exemption from military service.
The cost of such “services” reached up to 15 thousand US dollars.
Bukovyna: court security officer arranged “green”
An official of a local judicial security unit was detained in Bukovyna, who, together with an acquaintance, smuggled evaders to EU countries through forest trails outside checkpoints.
Men of military age gathered near the border, after which they were smuggled out via illegal routes through the so-called “green zone.”
Lviv: fake musicians and “documents made to order”
In Lviv, law enforcement officers exposed two people. One of them was registering conscripts as “artists” of a music band that was supposedly touring abroad.
The other sold “packages of documents” that allegedly exempted them from conscription.
Cherkasy region: fake diagnoses and “disabled relatives”
A 43-year-old businessman was detained in Cherkasy region who produced fake certificates of serious illness for his relatives so that the conscript could avoid service due to the “need for constant care.”
Also in Cherkasy, a married couple and their accomplice were exposed who were “writing off” people from the military register on the basis of false medical documents.
Zhytomyr: “vouchers to the EU” from a businessman with fake connections
A local businessman who offered “guaranteed travel to Europe” was detained in Zhytomyr. The man convinced clients that he had connections in law enforcement agencies that would help them avoid inspections.
Ternopil: forgery of medical certificates through a military hospital
In Ternopil, a local resident was detained for forging medical certificates of unfitness for service through his friend in a military hospital.
All the detainees were notified of suspicion. They are charged with:
- ч. 1 of Art. 114-1 – preparation to obstruct the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces during a special period;
- ч. 3 of Art. 332 – illegal transportation of persons across the state border committed by an organized group;
- ч. 3 Art. 369 – giving an unlawful benefit to an official;
- ч. 3 Art. 369-2 – abuse of influence.
The offenders face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. All of them are in custody.
Who conducted the special operation
The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the SBU:
- Chernivtsi and Lviv Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Offices of the Western Region;
- Ternopil District Prosecutor’s Office;
- Cherkasy, Zhytomyr and Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
