“Destruction in 100 days”: Biden is back – and immediately with devastating criticism

16 April 15:36

On April 15, former U.S. President Joe Biden made his first public appearance since losing the 2024 election. In his speech at a conference on disability in Chicago, he harshly criticized Donald Trump’s administration, not naming his opponent by name but clearly hinting at his policies, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing CNN.

“In less than 100 days, this new administration has caused so much damage and destruction. It’s just staggering,”

– Biden said at the ACRD conference (Conference of Advocates, Counselors and Representatives of People with Disabilities).

It was his first public appearance since leaving office, and he immediately made a strong political statement. Biden hinted that he intends to continue to influence the public agenda, especially when it comes to social policy and the protection of vulnerable groups.

In his speech, he particularly focused on cuts in federal agencies, which he said had led to problems with the U.S. Social Security Administration, including disruptions in access to online accounts and delays in payments.

“They want to destroy the system so they can rob it. And why? To give tax breaks to billionaires and large corporations,”

– Biden said, alluding to Trump’s policy.

In response to Biden’s speech, the Social Security Administration said he was spreading false information. SSA representatives emphasized that the reforms are aimed at combating fraud, not at cutting benefits.

Despite the broad political context and the half-hour-long speech, Biden never mentioned Ukraine or American assistance to Kyiv, which was disappointing among Ukrainian observers who expected to hear a position on supporting allies in the war against Russia.

Experts believe that this speech could be the beginning of a new stage of Biden’s public activity – not as a politician fighting for power, but as a voice of opposition to the Trump administration.

Biden vs. Trump

In recent years, the relationship between Joe Biden and Donald Trump has become one of the hottest political confrontations in the United States. After Biden’s victory in the 2020 election, Trump refused to recognize the results of the vote, which led to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. This incident became a symbol of the deep political polarization in the country

In 2024, the two politicians faced off again in the presidential race. During the debate, Biden called Trump “the worst president in US history,” citing historians’ assessments, while Trump accused Biden of lying and failing to effectively lead the country. The debate was tense, with mutual accusations and personal attacks

After his defeat in the 2024 elections, Biden retired from active politics and yesterday was the first time he publicly criticized Trump.
