South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem may become the head of the Department of Homeland Security. This was reported by CNN, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.

The publication claims that she was chosen by Donald Trump to head the US Department of Homeland Security, which controls the US Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the US Secret Service.

According to CNN, Trump wanted a person loyal to him to head the agency, which is a priority for him and key to his domestic agenda.

Noem was once on Trump’s short list for vice president, although her relationship with Trump changed after the negative publicity surrounding the publication of her book “No Way Back: The Truth About What’s Wrong with Politics and How We’re Moving America Forward,” CNN notes.

In it, Noem said that she once killed her 14-month-old pointer, Cricket, when he did not meet the criteria of “the perfect hunting dog and was not trainable,” as first reported by The Guardian. Noem later claimed that these “jokes” were meant to show how capable she was of doing the most horrible job in life when necessary.
