16 May 12:03
The Russian side has set a condition for the talks to take place in Istanbul at 12:30 p.m., "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the Russian media, the Russians demand that only two parties – Russian and Ukrainian – be present at the talks.
Earlier, it was reported that the talks would be held in a trilateral format with Turkey.
American media, in turn, report that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is in Istanbul, is to meet with the head of the Russian delegation, Medinsky, after the Ukrainian-Russian talks.

The composition of the delegation
Yesterday, President Zelenskyy approved the composition of the delegation to the talks with Russia. It is headed by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. It also includes:
- first Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya;
- deputy Head of the Security Service Oleksandr Poklad;
- deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Shevchenko;
- deputy Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Vadym Skibitskyi;
- first Deputy Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleh Luhovskyi;
- representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Air Force, the Navy and the Ministry of Defense;
- advisor to the Presidential Office Oleksandr Bevz.
What will be discussed
The Ukrainian side insists that the main and perhaps the only topic of discussion should be a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
The Russians claim that they see this meeting as a continuation of the 2022 “peace process” and are ready to talk about addressing the “root causes” of the war.
