Russia removes air defense systems from Crimea to protect oil facilities on its territory – Atesh

7 February 10:25

The Russian command has begun to withdraw some anti-aircraft missile units from the temporarily occupied Crimea to the territory of Russia. This was reported by the armed resistance movement “Atesh” with reference to its own agents in the Russian army, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

“Some of the complexes, including installations of the 31st Air Defense Division, are already being redeployed from the peninsula to new positions. The occupiers realize that this step creates critical gaps in the defense of Crimea, but they have no other choice. As a result, airfields, military depots and the Kerch Bridge remain vulnerable,”

– the guerrillas said.

According to them, this decision was dictated not only by the successful strikes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on oil depots and military infrastructure, but also by public pressure within Russia. The guerrillas emphasize that the attacks by Ukrainian long-range drones demonstrate the Putin regime’s inability to protect military facilities in the Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh regions and other regions of Russia.

“They have to take risks, as the losses of oil depots and logistics hubs in Russia are already reaching a critical point. Putin’s regime may lose the ability to effectively supply its troops with fuel, which will inevitably affect their combat capability at the front,”

– the statement reads.

Representatives of the Atesh movement emphasize that this result was made possible not only by the strikes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, but also by the active actions of their movement:

“The agents of our movement have made a key contribution to weakening the occupation forces, and this is just the beginning. We know that the enemy is weak, and now he himself is creating favorable conditions for us to defeat him completely.”

What is Atesh?

“Atesh (translated from Crimean Tatar as “Fire”) is a military guerrilla movement created in September 2022 by Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars in response to the Russian military invasion. The movement operates in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in Russia, with more than 2,000 agents in the ranks of the Russian army and the Russian Guard.

Since its founding, Atesh has carried out a number of successful operations, including the elimination of 30 Russian servicemen in Simferopol hospitals, the arson of barracks with Russian military in the village of Sovetske, and the blowing up of the railway line between Abrikosivka and Radensk in Kherson region. The guerrillas also conduct reconnaissance operations, including identifying the location of military equipment, air defense bases, and electronic warfare systems of the occupiers.

The movement’s activities are based on the principle of “destruction from within” – its members often operate undercover, being in the ranks of the Russian army. The Atesh fighters swear allegiance to the movement’s ideas and the Ukrainian state, pledging to fight against Ukraine’s enemies by all means possible, even if this means taking an enemy oath to deceive the enemy.
