Russia has launched a ballistic missile attack on Odesa, hitting a civilian vessel flying the flag of Palau. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration (OMA) Oleh Kiper, Komersant UkrainianKomersant Ukrainian reports

As a result of another act of aggression by Russia, a 60-year-old employee of a private cargo handling company was killed. The deceased was a citizen of Ukraine. In addition, five foreigners were injured. Four of them are in moderate condition and one is in light condition.

The victims are currently receiving the necessary medical care.

Kiper added that the consequences of the new Russian crime are being recorded by law enforcement.

“Russian terrorists are once again trying to disrupt the work of the Ukrainian grain corridor. Over the past few days, this is the second attack on a civilian vessel in the ports of Odesa region,” the official said.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, said that the vessel in question was the OPTIMA, which had just called at Odesa today for loading.

“Unfortunately, one person died. Five other foreign nationals, crew members, were injured. They are currently receiving medical assistance. Only today the vessel came in for loading. However, in a few hours it was targeted by the aggressor country,” Kuleba said.

He noted that the aggressor is trying to disrupt shipping in the Black Sea once again and undermine Ukraine’s efforts to ensure food security.

“This can only lead to increased instability in sensitive regions of the world that depend on food imports and unrest in international relations. It is important that port infrastructure is protected from terrorism and that free and safe navigation is guaranteed. We must continue to strengthen our counter-terrorism defence and bring the enemy to justice with the power of arms and the power of diplomacy,” Kuleba concluded.
