Russia is once again going to create an analog of the Starlink satellite Internet system of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company. This was stated by the head of the Russian state corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Russian media.

Bakanov said that Russia has a response to Elon Musk’s American Starlink development. According to the head of the state corporation, this will be the Rassvet project, which is being implemented as part of the space national project by Bureau 1440.

According to Bakanov, the project already has its first successful results.

“The new products that have appeared: first of all, we will give our answer to Starlink. With the Bureau 1440 Dawn project, we will also have low-orbit broadband,” Bakanov announced.

In addition to the Starlink analog, Russia will also have new accuracy systems for drones. The Space Atom project will also be launched to build a lunar power plant, as well as the OEF Spectrum project to search for extraterrestrial life and explore deep space.

Earlier, Russian media reported that the previous head of Roscosmos had announced that the Russian response to the American Starlink would be fully operational by 2030, and if all goes well, even by 2028.

Earlier, it was reported that the deployment of the Russian Rassvet satellite grouping might be delayed. The reason for this will be the priority use of domestic radio electronics, as follows from the protocol of the State Radio Frequency Commission of December 24.

The launch of 383 satellites (91 backup satellites) is scheduled for 2027, with a project budget of 436.6 billion rubles (106.6 billion rubles in federal funding).

According to the official website of Bureau 1440, the system will provide speeds of up to 1 Gbps with a signal delay of up to 70 ms.

As of May 4, 2025, SpaceX has launched 8445 satellites into orbit, of which 6603 are actively working to provide the global Internet.
