The enemy has not been able to and will not be able to destroy the Kyiv HPP exclusively with missiles. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defence Council’s Disinformation Counteraction Centre, said this in his Telegram channel, reports Komersant ukrainskyi.
The official noted that Kyivska HPP is not in danger.
“It is impossible to destroy it with missiles. We shouldn’t compare it to Kherson region – there was an explosion from the inside. The Russians are using this topic to stir up panic, nothing more,” Kovalenko wrote.
The NSDC made this statement after videos of an alleged missile attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the Kyiv hydroelectric power station on 26 July, during which it was damaged, began to circulate online. The topic was most actively discussed on Russian Telegram channels, which used the information to spread panic among Ukrainians.
A little later, Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, commented on the current situation at the critical infrastructure facility. He told us when the passage through the dam would be opened. According to him, this will happen after all the necessary services have eliminated the consequences of the missile attack. There is another condition: there should be no new launches of missiles and drones from Russia.
As of 17:00, work was still underway to restore vehicular traffic across the dam.
