Annual inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 12.9%. In January 2025, consumer prices rose by 1.2%.
This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
“Inflation in the consumer market in January 2025 was 1.2% compared to December 2024, and 12.9% compared to January 2024,” the report says.
According to the State Statistics Service, core inflation in January was 1.3% compared to December 2024, and 11.7% compared to January 2024.
It is noted that in the consumer market in January, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.2%.
Prices for vegetables, sunflower oil, soft drinks, bread, butter, processed cereals, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, fruits, fish and fish products increased by 5.5-0.9%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.6%, which was driven by a 2.3% rise in tobacco prices.
Also, in January, prices in the communications sector increased by 9.1%, due to a 29.1% increase in local telephone tariffs and a 15.6% increase in mobile tariffs.
Transportation prices increased by 1.4%, mainly due to a 2.5% rise in road passenger transportation fares and a 2.1% rise in fuel and oil prices.
At the same time, eggs fell by 23.1% last month, prices for pasta and sugar fell by 0.8% and 0.6%, and prices for clothing and footwear fell by 5.5%.
