On 9 August, Russian troops shelled Kostyantynivka in Donetsk region. The enemy launched an air strike on the town with an X-38 missile and hit a supermarket, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

“This is another targeted strike on a crowded place, another act of terror from the Russians,” the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Vadim Filashkin, wrote on Telegram.
The strike caused a serious fire, and a rescue operation was launched.

“Strike on Kostyantynivka: 45 injured, fire extinguished in a 1,000 sq m shopping centre. Emergency services are working at the scene: State Emergency Service, police with a paramedic unit. A total of 45 people were injured in the Russian shelling: 10 people were killed and 35 others were injured. Residential buildings, shops, and more than a dozen cars were also damaged,” said Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
Meanwhile, Filashkin reports 9 dead and 26 wounded – these are the latest figures for the strike on Kostyantynivka as of 14:00.
Filashkin also provides more detailed data on the destroyed property.
“It has been established that the enemy launched an air strike on the town with an X-38 missile and hit a supermarket. According to preliminary estimates, in addition to this supermarket, 4 private houses, 9 shops, a car wash, Nova Poshta, trade pavilions and 12 cars were damaged,” the statement said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted footage of the fire extinguishing and expressed his condolences.
“People are under the rubble. A rescue operation is underway and everything will be done to save people. As of now, four people have been reported dead. My condolences to the families and friends. At least 24 people were injured,” the president wrote.
Zelensky stressed that Russia would be held accountable for this terror.
“We will do everything to ensure that the world continues to be with Ukraine, supporting our defence and saving the lives of our people,” the head of state added.
