UN Security Council begins meeting on the situation in Ukraine – streaming

Today, on January 16, the UN Security Council met to discuss the situation in Ukraine in connection with Russian aggression, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine began at 15:00 EST (22:00 Kyiv time).
The meeting is being held at the request of Slovenia and the United States, which had previously consulted with the Ukrainian delegation.
According to the Security Council’s secretariat, a representative of the UN Department of Political Affairs will speak at the meeting.
Earlier it was reported that the topic of the informal meeting of the UN Security Council would be Russia’s violations of international humanitarian law in relation to Ukrainian prisoners of war and detained civilians.
As a reminder, since February 2022, the United Nations has officially recorded the deaths of more than 12.3 thousand civilians in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression, and more than 27.8 thousand people have been injured.
