The Ukrainian parliament has extended the moratorium on the bankruptcy of coal mines for a year. This was reported on his Facebook page by Mykhailo Volynets, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

“Draft law No. 12220 on the moratorium on bankruptcy of state-owned mines was supported by the Verkhovna Rada. I am grateful to my colleagues who contributed to speeding up the consideration,” Volynets wrote.

Parliamentarians cast 251 votes in favor of draft law No. 12220, which extends the moratorium on enforcement proceedings and bankruptcies for state-owned coal mines until January 1, 2026.

The authors of the draft law emphasized in the explanatory note that since Ukraine will be using its own resources for this and the next heating season, lifting the moratorium would lead to bankruptcy and further liquidation of mines, which would threaten the country’s energy security.
