Rada to consider Kravchenko’s appointment as Prosecutor General – Zelenskyy’s submission

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Ruslan Kravchenko as Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Information about the possible nomination of this particular candidate circulated six months ago – it was first reported by journalists.
“In accordance with paragraph 11 of part one of Article 106 and part three of Article 131-1 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada received a submission from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on granting consent to the appointment of Ruslan Andriyovych Kravchenko to the post of Prosecutor General,” the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, wrote on Facebook.
According to the Speaker, the parliament will consider the motion at one of its upcoming plenary sessions.

Ruslan Kravchenko is currently the head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
When will the vote for the Prosecutor General take place?
The head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, said that tomorrow, June 17, the faction will hold a meeting to present the candidate for Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, in turn, notes that voting for the Prosecutor General will take place tomorrow.

What we know about Ruslan Kravchenko
Ruslan Kravchenko was born in 1990 in the city of Siverskodonetsk, Luhansk region.
In 2007, he graduated from the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum. In 2012, he graduated from Yaroslav the Wise Law Academy with a degree in law and was promoted to lieutenant of justice.
From 2012 to 2014, he worked as a supervisory investigator at the Sevastopol Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2014-2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation under contract, was a prosecutor of the 33rd Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region of Ukraine (in Debaltseve and Bakhmut). He has the status of a combatant and was discharged from military service in 2020.
From 2015 to 2017, he worked as a prosecutor in the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. He was a prosecutor in the case where fugitive Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was found guilty of high treason and aiding and abetting war.
From 2019 to 2020, he was the Deputy Military Prosecutor of the Central Region of Ukraine.
From 2020 to 2021, he worked as the Head of the Department for Criminal Proceedings on Crimes in the Military-Industrial Complex of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Military and Defense Sphere of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
From 2021 to 2023, he held the position of Head of the Bucha District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv Region.
In 2023, he took part in the competition for the position of head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
In April 2023, Kravchenko was appointed by decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the post of head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

Ruslan Kravchenko is married to Olena Shkrobanets, who previously worked in the Prosecutor General’s Office. She was the head of the translation department of the Legal Assistance and Extradition Department of the Department of International Legal Cooperation.
Currently, Shkrobanets is an administrative project specialist at the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine.
It should be noted that the current head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, was called the future Prosecutor General in political circles even before the dismissal of the previous Prosecutor General, Andriy Kostin. Various media outlets, citing their own sources, claimed that there were enough votes in the Rada to support Ruslan Kravchenko’s candidacy.
He was also predicted to be appointed even before he officially became the head of the Tax Service of Ukraine on December 31, 2024.
At the time, political and law enforcement circles said that such a career turnaround was unexpected for Kravchenko himself.
At the same time, it was said on the sidelines that the position at the State Tax Service was still “temporary,” and that the Prosecutor General’s Office had allegedly promised Kravchenko the post of Prosecutor General in the future.”
